No Chinese Investment in the Cavs

August 27, 2010

No surprise here, but the Chinese businessman who had interest in investing as a minority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers has had a change of heart. The deal has collapsed according to The Miami Herald.

It seems like looking for players overseas isn’t one of CAVS game plan to replenish their roster. The pressure is on though, for them to build up their team before the season starts.

I think this is a bigger lose in terms of international growth for the team. With a Chinese investor, the Cavs would have a road into the Chinese population which loves NBA basketball. Look at all the players that go to China to promote themselves like Dwight Howard who just finished a trip. The idea for this partnership was probably all business and turned on taking the team global. Similar to what the new Nets owner wants to do.

    Thanks for the comment!
