Bob Marley’s Family Loses Lawsuit Against UMG Records

UMG Records found itself in another lawsuit (Eminem’s was the other), but this time, the court ruled in their favor. Marley’s widow and nine children sought the copyrights for five of Marley’s albums which he had recorded for Island Records. The court held that the music was work made for hire, and thus, property of UMG Records.
